I wanted to like Mother Mary because the visuals, music, and performances were all really strong. Anne Hathaway and Michaela Coel both did a great job, and the movie definitely had some beautiful scenes and interesting ideas. The soundtrack also added a lot and helped create the mood throughout the film.
At the same time, the story felt too abstract and confusing for me. It seemed like the movie was more focused on symbolism and strange imagery than on making the plot clear or emotionally connecting with the audience. By the end, I felt like I was watching something visually impressive, but I was not fully invested in what was happening.
I also did not like the way the movie used Catholic imagery and symbolism. It felt more shocking and dramatic than meaningful, and at times it seemed like it was using religious themes mainly to get a reaction. Overall, I can see why some people would really like it because it is unique and artistic, but it just was not my kind of movie.
